Oh a lot of things will be expressed here. Eventually when my life slows down a little I will be documenting my daughter, my mother, and my hair journey. Enjoy Loves!

Churchgoers are really good at calling ‘wolf’ on being hated. ‘It’s persecution, man, they hate me because I got Jesus.’ But maybe it’s not your beliefs and values and conservative leanings. Maybe they just don’t like you because you’re a socially inept weirdo that doesn’t know a thing about the real world.

Our churches don’t make sense because we fight over stupid secondary things, raising all the wrong banners and dying on hills of no substance. We use a strange vocabulary that no one understands but The Club. If hell is real and we’re pointing our cannons at each other, we’re doing Satan’s work for him.

Somehow, somewhere, there’s got to be some kind of connection in our lives with totally disconnected people. We can’t just be withdrawing in our safe bubbles of similar thought with agreeable spiritual platitudes and ‘bless your heart’ and routine prayer language. No one outside your church understands some of that spiritualized garbage pouring out of your religious mouth. People want real. They need truth. They need less Greek and more grace.

Less Greek and more Hebrew is more like it. That was our original language before we were scattered across the land after being disobedient to Yahuah. I definitely plan to start posting my studies of the word here. there’s been too much doctrine in these churches, have people believing they need to be separated from the very sin they are apart of being up in there in the first place. Sin is sin, none greater than the other.#disappointed

Lil Wayne’s VMA performance outfit kiiiind of reminded us of that little dude from The Wild Thornberrys. Like, let’s be real, how spot on is this comparison?

I hate Lil Wayne because all these kids expect me to be like him.

i took out my 4 month traditional locs and started over with mini ones. i did this for two reasons.
1. my larger locs held too much dirt despite me washing them with clarifying shampoo three times a week. so i’m hoping i can get my hair more thoroughly clean with smaller locs.
2. i wanted to explore my options, if im not satisfied with these i will take them out and go back to my larger length and just deal with the dirt :/.
and this pic only show 1/4 of my hair i’m not even finished the other side. jeez. oh well, here’s the beginning of a new journey.

Prison relieves us of the responsibility of seriously engaging with the problems of our society, especially those produced by racism and, increasingly, global capitalism.

Angela Davis

Some statistics/facts concerning the prison industrial complex:

  • More than two million people out of a world total of nine million now inhabit U.S. prisons, jails, youth facilities, and immigrant detention centers. In the late 1960s there were close to 200,000 people in prison in the United States.
  • The U.S. population in general is less than 5% of the world’s total, whereas more than 20% of the world’s combined prison population can be claimed by the United States. Short of major wars, mass incarceration has been the most thoroughly implemented government social program of our time.
  • In 2002, there were 157,979 people incarcerated in the state of California alone, including approximately 20,000 people whom the state holds for immigration violations.
  • In 1990, a study of U.S. prison populations was published which concluded that 1 in 4 black men between the ages of 21-29 were in prison and jail and on parole or probation. Five years later, a second study revealed that this percentage had soared to almost 1 in 3. More than 1 in 10 Latino men of the same age were in jail or prison, or on probation or parole. The second study also revealed that the group experiencing the greatest increase was black women, whose imprisonment increased by 78%.

This is beautiful. You rarely see African-American ballerinas, especially ones my age. I would love for my future daughter to continue ballet past her childhood.
